GILBY CLARKE's CANDY: Collection Of Rare And Unreleased Cuts To Surface In August

July 30, 2003

A collection of rare and unreleased recordings by CANDY, the first "real band" of former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke, is set for release on August 19 through SongTree Records. Titled "Candy - Teenage Neon Jungle", the album features "a walloping 25 tracks of original raw demos, live and re-recorded songs, little gems from CANDY's audio scrapbook, and extensive liner notes and photos," according to an official press release.

The pop-glam band CANDY — whose music is described as a cross between BAY CITY ROLLERS, BEATLES and JOHNNY THUNDERS AND THE HEARTBREAKERS — was only on the L.A. music scene for a short time in the mid-1980s, releasing just one album ("Whatever Happened to Fun...", Polygram/Mercury, 1985) and the single and video for the title track, before disbanding.
